ADAM ONDRA - DER HEILIGE GRAL 9a from BERNARTWOOD on Vimeo.

24. 12. 2010 - Christmas 2010 present from BERNARTWOOD :-)

Enjoy this short movie about Adam Ondra doing the acrobatic 9a in Frankenjura! This route will have no space in our upcoming main movie about the young legend, but anyway, it is worth seeing it, Adam climbed it on the 2nd try!

ADAM ONDRA - Working Golpe de Estado in Siurana from BERNARTWOOD on Vimeo.

23. 1. 2011 - To make waiting for the movie shorter, here is small preview of the shots from Siurana - Spain. Adam Ondra is trying 2 very different superhard 9b routes. Unclimbed bouldery project and then amazing line from Chris Sharma - Golpe de Estado 9b.

The movie will be finished when it is finished, it is our best interest to make it firstly well and secondly as soon as possible, but it is really terribly hard work to put 80 hours of good shots and information about this little big man into one simple 90 minutes movie. So I just say that is in a very advanced level of editing now... sorry... ;-)

Adam Ondra climbed his first two 8C boulders in November 2010 in Ticino, Switzerland.

BIG PAW - 8B+/C
FROM DIRT GROW THE FLOWERS - 8C

This small video is small Christmas present form "BERNARTWOOD studio" to all climbers. These 2 boulders did not find its place in the final movie about Adam. They were planned to be on the DVD in EXTRAS. But yesterday, I decided to edit it a bit and give it to everybody...

Sorry for the "big" movie about Adam taking so long, it was incredibly hard work, mainly mental, but it is finished, and prepared for delivering. We would like to put it out as a HD DOWNLOAD on December 31st, if all technical aspects will be OK.

DVD with really rich extras will follow in January.

All the important info (length, formats, prices, film tour etc) will appear after December 26th on WWW.ADAMONDRAFILM.COM

Have a nice and quiet non-consume winter time...

The Rocklands Files from Ben Grubb on Vimeo.

In September 2011, me, my girlfriend Snooky and our friends Matt & Jen flew the 6,000 miles (more or less) due south to visit the bouldering paradise of Rocklands in South Africa. Our trip was pretty short (in climbing trip terms), but in the two weeks we were there, we crammed a hell of a lot in! We spent a few days seeing the sights in and around Cape Town, before driving up country to Rocklands itself.

This video is a hugely condensed down account of what we did and saw, along with a choice selection of some of the incredible boulder problems we tried while there. Some of the classic problems featured include: 'The Roof is on Fire' (6C), 'Up The Spout' (6A+), 'Mary's Roof' (6B+), 'Esoterrorist' (7A), 'Minki' (7B) and 'Dirty Lies' (7A+) plus a fair few others which we enjoyed.

Huge thanks to Ben for the loan of his Canon EOS 7D and to Steve for the loan of his GoPro Hero HD camera!

Also, thanks to Scott Noy for publishing his excellent Rocklands guidebook. Without that we'd have been totally lost! If you're thinking of going to Rocklands, definitely grab a copy!

The Rocklands Files Extras from Ben Grubb on Vimeo.

Some additional footage and problems which didn't make the final cut of our film 'The Rocklands Files' (available here: http://vimeo.com/33206809). It seemed a shame to waste this footage of some amazing lines from various areas around Rocklands, so I put them together into this short, additional film. I hope you enjoy it!

Rockville Expansion Part 3 from Earth Treks Climbing Centers on Vimeo.

Earth Treks' Vice President, Scot Heidtman takes us through Wall Building 101 with a look at the materials and construction of an indoor climbing wall. In the 3rd month of construction, the wood paneling on the top rope & lead walls is almost finished and the surface is getting prepped for that crucial concrete exterior. Construction completion is targeted for late Fall 2011 and will increase the size of Earth Treks Rockville from 19,000 square feet to 34,000 square feet of climbing surface. Making it one of the top five largest indoor climbing facilities in the country!

Earth Treks Climbing Team at the 2011 SCS Nationals from Earth Treks Climbing Centers on Vimeo.

The first day of qualifiers was a huge success for the Earth Treks Climbing Team competitors at SCS Nationals! The team preformed excellent in both Sport and Speed climbing. Of the 11 competitors for Sport Climbing we had, 8 climbers flashed their route!

After a successful day of semi-finals, 5 members of the Earth Treks Climbing Team moved on to finals. In Sport Climbing Finals Arabella J. finished in 8th place, Kayla L. in 6th, Nicole H. in 6th, Miura H. in 6th, and Ryan Y. in 10th place. All of our athletes received medals and climbed excellently.

During Speed Finals, Kayla L. flew up the wall as if she had wings, capturing the title of 2011 US National Speed Climbing Champion in her category of Female Youth B!! Kayla will be traveling with the US National Team to Austria this August to compete in the World Cup against the fastest athletes from all over the globe.

We can't express how immensely proud we are of everyone's performance during Finals and throughout the entire competition.

Yuji Hirayama is a bona fide rock star—the kind with grit on his hands, open air all around, and no net below. A competition climber whos scaled peaks in China, Italy, Kuala Lumpur, Switzerland and elsewhere, Yuji was World Cup champion in 2000. Hes now revered as a granite crack climber and boulderer, able to analyze and exploit the tiniest seams. Because just climbing isnt adrenaline-charged enough, Yuji is also a speed climber. In 2008, he and ascent partner Hans Florine set a new record for ascending the Nose of El Capitan, blazing up the 1000-meter wall in 2:37:05, beating the previous record by two minutes and bettering their 2002 mark by a staggering five minutes.

Description:
St John's head on the Island of Hoy is a wild and remote 1150 foot sea cliff. It was first climbed in 1970 by climber and poet Ed Drummond together with Oliver Hill. They took 7 days to climb the cliff, sleeping on ledges and in hammocks along the way. Now, 40 years later, one of the World's top climbers, Dave MacLeod, sets out to climb the cliff in a single day, finishing with a new desperately hard final pitch up the headwall.

Macleod's historic new climb, The Longhope Route Direct (E11), is captured close-up with the latest HD cameras and contrasted with the challenges of Drummond's first ascent through interviews and archive material. The film also follows Drummond, now in his late sixties and suffering from Parkinson's disease, as he makes a pilgrimage back to St John's Head to look upon the route one last time.

The future is female! This is why we invited eight very different female climbers from very different climbing backgrounds to compete in udini's unique "screw-it-yourself" format.
Julia Winter from Dresden finally became the undisputed winner of this intense but friendly and incredibly attractive event. What the results don't tell you is how homogeneous the climbing skills of the invited climbers where. Women seem to be the better course setters too: everybody climbed her own problem! The prize for the nicest problem (#8) went to Vera Zijlstra who is an stunning talent in this field, she put it up in only 30 minutes!!! While nobody could repeat Barbara Zangerl's, Juliane Wurm's and Angelica Lind's problem, everybody enjoyed Layla Mammi's #5.
"Hi Udo,
Just wanted to say thank you once again for everything!
Thanks for that you made it possible for me to come to the competiton and thanks for the nice event!
I had a really great time :-) Hope you are also satisfied!
Good luck for the future!"
- Angelica (Lind), Sweden
The BRI was the first climbing competition that gave route setting, THE crucial element of any comp, back into the hands of the climbers. In 2007 we invited eight of the strongest, but very different German climbers to put up their own problems and climb them afterwards. Read on for our German:
